Fly Screens for a Commercial Kitchen

The Problem

We were contacted by one of our customers on behalf of one of their customers. After a visit from an Environmental Health Officer (EHO), they had been told that they needed to fly proof their windows to adhere with legislation and prevent flying insects to ensure a hygienic environment.

The building was listed, so in addition to the internal window frames being a tricky shape, any fly screen needed to be installed internally.

The Solution

In order to complete the job, we first needed to complete a site survey. As this was such a complex screening solution, our experienced technician needed to put together a plan of action to get the sizes of the screens. To make matters more complex, the kitchen in question was also in operation all day, every day.

As almost every window was a different size or a different shape, the technician had to think of out of the box solutions and be incredibly precise when putting together bespoke fly screens to ensure that everything fit together perfectly.

We installed the fly screens after 11pm, when the kitchen was closed, to minimise disruption to the customer. The site were extremely happy with their insect screens and passed their next EHO inspection with flying colours.
